Whether you're conducting market research with external users or setting up an internal training survey, the survey-app will be a tremendously helpful tool to you. Create, share and analyze surveys from scratch in minutes.

How do I create a new survey?

  1. Navigate to the Survey App
  2. From the main table, you'll see an option to Create new survey
  3. Enter a survey name and a description (optional)
  4. Hit save, and you're all set
  5. Now you're ready to start building the elements of your survey in our survey-builder

How do I add other team members to collaborate on survey creation?

  1. Identify your survey in the main app table
  2. When hovering over the row, you'll see the option more expand, select that
  3. Now press add collaborator and select the team member(s) you wish to collaborate with on the survey creation
  4. Go build an awesome survey, together
  1. Identify your survey in the main app table
  2. When hovering over the row, you'll see the option share, select that
  3. At the top of the modal that expands, you'll see the link to the survey which you can share with respondents for them to take the survey

If you do not see the share option, verify that your survey is live by checking the status column. If your survey is still in draft mode, there is no share link available.

How do I share a survey through a Naologic-generated email invite?

  1. Identify your survey in the main app table
  2. When hovering over the row, you'll see the option share, select that
  3. At the top of the modal that expands, you'll see a field where you can input the emails of your recipients as well as a preview of the email they will receive with the invite link to the survey
  4. Press send invite
  5. Your respondents have now been notified by an automatically generated email from Naologic

How do I rename a survey?

There are two ways for you to do this:

  1. From the main app table:
  2. From the main app table, hover over the survey you wish to update
  3. Select more
  4. Select rename from the dropdown
  5. Enter the new survey name you wish to update to
  6. Hit save
  7. Your survey name has now been updated

From within a survey:

  1. Within each survey, you'll find the channel name in the navigation
  2. Click the name to enter the edit state
  3. Update the survey name
  4. Hit enter or press outside the editable area
  5. Your survey name has now been updated

How do I delete a survey?

You're only able to delete a survey if you're the creator of it or if you're a workspace super admin.

  1. Hover over the survey you wish to delete inside the main table
  2. You'll see options appearing on the right hand side of the row, choose more
  3. Select delete survey from the dropdown list
  4. Confirm your action
  5. Your survey has now been deleted

How do I archive a survey?

You're only able to archive a survey if you're the creator of it or if you're a workspace super admin.

  1. Hover over the channel you wish to archive inside the main table
  2. You'll see options appearing on the right hand side of the row, choose more
  3. Select archive survey from the dropdown list
  4. Confirm your action
  5. Your survey has now been archived

How do I unarchive a survey?

  1. From the main app table, you'll see a more option at the very top next to the table header
  2. Select archived items from the dropdown
  3. You're now in a table with all your archived items
  4. You can hover over the survey you wish to unarchive to see the option unarchive expand, select that
  5. Your survey has now been unarchived and is again to be found in the main table alongside your other surveys

How do I view an overview of the results of a survey?

  1. From the main app table, you'll see options appearing when hovering over a survey, choose view results
  2. You're now directed to the main overview of your survey from which you're able to see the total number of views, starts, completions and average time it took respondents to complete your survey

How do I view the results of a survey by question?

  1. From the main app table, you'll see options appearing when hovering over a survey, choose view results
  2. You're now directed to the main overview of your survey where the default view is a list of results, organized by question
  3. Start scrolling down to view the individual questions of your survey and to see which options got which answers

How do I view the results of a survey by respondent?

  1. From the main app table, you'll see options appearing when hovering over a survey, choose view results
  2. You're now directed to the main overview of your survey where you'll see a tab called by respondent, press that
  3. You're now able to see each respondent and their full list of answers to your survey questions right next to one another

How do I add questions and elements to a survey?

  1. From the main app table, identify the survey you wish to add a question to and click it
  2. You're now in the survey builder; On the right hand side of the screen, you'll see a preview of your questions, exactly like your respondent will see them when they take the test. On the left hand side of the screen is where you add your question types and content
  3. You'll see a button with the text add your first question, press that
  4. Now, specify the type of question you wish to insert and get started creating!

How do I make a certain survey question required by respondents?

You can make any survey question mandatory by respondents. This means they will not be able to submit the survey until they have answered this specific question.

  1. From within the survey builder, create a question
  2. Once created, hover over the question and choose the option of question settings which will appear when you hover
  3. Check the required box
  4. You'll now see an asterisk in the preview on the right hand side of the screen, indicating that it is a mandatory question
  5. That's it!

How do I add a description to an individual survey question?

You can add a description to any question inside your survey.

  1. From within the survey builder, create a question
  2. Once created, hover over the question and choose the option of question settings which will appear when you hover
  3. Check the description field
  4. You'll now see a line for a description appear in the question builder
  5. Start typing your description and that's it!

How do I allow a respondent to select multiple answers for a question?

This option is applicable for multiple choice questions only and will not appear in question settings for other question types

  1. From within the survey builder, create a question
  2. Once created, hover over the question and choose the option of question settings which will appear when you hover
  3. Check the allow multiple selection box
  4. You'll now see an updated description in the preview on the right hand side of your screen saying choose as many as you like to indicate to respondents that they can select as many options as they wish for the given question
  5. That's it!

How do I define the number of steps in question that includes a rating?

This option is applicable for rating question-types only and will not appear in question settings for other question types

  1. From within the survey builder, create a question
  2. Once created, hover over the question and choose the option of question settings which will appear when you hover
  3. Select the number of steps for your rating by expanding the dropdown and choosing any number of steps you wish between 2 and 10
  4. You'll now see an updated number of steps in the preview on the right hand side of your screen
  5. That's it!

How do I add a video to my survey?

Sometimes your question will be based on the context from a video which your participants will have to watch for them to be able to complete your survey.

  1. From within the survey builder, click to create a question and choose video from the dropdown
  2. Next, paste the link for your video
  3. Your video is now a part of your survey and can be viewed by respondents

How do I add a multiple choice question to my survey?

  1. From the main app table, identify the survey you wish to add a question to and click it
  2. You're now in the survey builder; On the right hand side of the screen, you'll see a preview of your questions, exactly like your respondent will see them when they take the test. On the left hand side of the screen is where you add your question types and content
  3. Identify the option to add a question
  4. Choose multiple choice from the question types in the dropdown
  5. Populate your question and options and move along to the next question or publish your survey and start sharing it!

How do I add a true/false question to my survey?

  1. From the main app table, identify the survey you wish to add a question to and click it
  2. You're now in the survey builder; On the right hand side of the screen, you'll see a preview of your questions, exactly like your respondent will see them when they take the test. On the left hand side of the screen is where you add your question types and content
  3. Identify the option to add a question

How do I add a yes/no question to my survey?

  1. From the main app table, identify the survey you wish to add a question to and click it

How do I add a rating question-type to my survey?

How do I add a date question-type to my survey?

How do I add a thank you screen to my survey?

  1. From the main app table, identify the survey you wish to add a question to and click it

  3. Choose thank you screen from the question types in the dropdown
  4. Put together a nice thank you message for your respondents to show them you appreciate them taking time of their day to answer your survey

How do I add an instruction screen to my survey?

  1. From the main app table, identify the survey you wish to add a question to and click it
  2. Identify the option to add a question
  3. Choose instruction from the question types in the dropdown
  4. Put together an instruction or encouraging message to your respondents and insert it wherever needed in your survey

How do I add a file upload widget to my survey?

This question type is meant when the respondent is expected to upload a file as part of an answer.

  1. From the main app table, identify the survey you wish to add a question to and click it
  2. Identify the option to add a question
  3. Choose instruction from the question types in the dropdown
  4. Put together your question and explain which type of file you expect to be uploaded

Please note the the supported file formats are jpg, png, pdf, docx (Word), xlsx (Excel). pptx (PowerPoint) and csv.

How do I add free text question-type to my survey?

  1. From the main app table, identify the survey you wish to add a question to and click it
  2. Identify the option to add a question
  3. Choose free text from the question types in the dropdown
  4. Add your question

How do I know what my question will look like to respondents?

On the right hand side of the survey-builder, you'll see a preview of your questions exactly as your respondents will see them.

If you wish to verify further, you can always try out the share link yourself before you share it with respondents.

How do I delete an attached image on a survey question?

After inserting a file or image, you'll see a small thumbnail of the image in the survey builder with a small x in the top right corner of the thumbnail. Press that to delete the file.

How do I save a survey as a draft to be able to continue working on it in another session before taking it live?

Building a great survey can take time and can't always be done in one sitting. That's why you have the option to save any survey you're working on in draft mode. In the top right corner of the survey-builder, you'll see the option to save as draft. Choose that option. Your survey is now to be found in the main app table with a draft status tag attached to it. You can continue the creation of your survey and take it live at any given point in time.
