Credit Notes

A credit note or credit memo is a commercial document issued by a seller to a buyer. Credit notes act as a source document for the sales return journal. In other words the credit note is evidence of the reduction in sales.
How do I create a credit note?
From an existing, paid, invoice
- Navigate to your
invoices app
which is within theSales
navigation tab in your top-level menu - From the main table, identify the invoice from which you wish to generate a credit note
- Hover over the row and identify the
generate credit note
option - Confirm your action
- Your credit note has now been created and can be found in the
credit notes
table
How do I view a credit note as my customer will see it?
- Navigate to your
credit notes app
which is within theSales
navigation tab in your top-level menu - From the main table, identify the credit note you wish to view
- Hover over the row and identify the
view
option - You're now taken to the same view as your customer has when they see it. From here, you're also able to view and leave comments for your customer regarding this specific credit note
How do I delete an existing credit note?
- Navigate to your
credit notes app
which is within theSales
navigation tab in your top-level menu - From the main table, identify the credit note you wish to delete
- Hover over the row and identify the
delete
option - Confirm that you really do wish to delete the credit note
- That's it!
How do I register payment for a credit note?
- Navigate to your
credit notes app
which is within theSales
navigation tab in your top-level menu - From the main table, identify the credit note you wish to register payment for
- Hover over the row and identify the
register payment
option - Complete the needed fields with payment date, payment amount, amount received, statement, method and memo
- That's it. you have now registered this credit note as paid and you can now find it in the
payments
table along with all your other payments
