Bill of Lading - Why do I need a bill of lading?

If you are transporting freight, you must have a bill of lading. The bill of lading (BOL) has many purposes: it is a record of title, an agreement between the shipper and the freight company, and a receipt for the services provided by the latter. At the time of pickup, you should provide the carrier the Bill of Lading and also attach it to the freight you are packaging.
