Action overview

Harnessing the Power of Actions in the Naologic Builder

Actions are one of the most potent tools for managing data in the Naologic Builder, allowing you to tie together different screens in your app and sharing data between various points. This article dives into how to effectively use actions, add functions, and navigate the action functions overview.

Getting Started with Actions

  1. Open the project you wish to work in.
  2. Identify the app from the app overview canvas you wish to work with.
  3. Access the app flow.

In the app flow, you can hover over individual nodes to identify the data Action Type. You also have the option to drag in a new Action Type from the left side menu, specifically the vertical option side menu called Actions.

Editing an Existing Action

Let's say you want to edit an existing action. Each action has settings that recur on all actions, and there are specific action functions that are unique to a particular action type.

To add a function, you can manually select the next function you want to add, or allow Naologic to perform a compatibility check and automatically insert the next action function that fits with your pre-existing logic associated with this action.

To edit an action function, hover over its name and click on it.

Action Functions Overview

Clicking on an action function will take you to an overview page with all available action functions sorted by categories. You will have all categories and action functions available to you by default, but if you wish to filter, you can do so by clicking on individual functions.

Selecting an item will automatically insert it back into your flow, filling in the blanks. This method helps to explain what happens with each data layer or action function as you are using it, providing an easy-to-understand context in which it is used.

Think of actions as a way to bind together the different screens in your app while actually maintaining, capturing, and sharing data between different points of your app. As such, fill in the blanks and actions are the single most powerful way you can use knowledge in the Naologic Builder.
