These assaults don't directly manipulate the AI, but instead alter incoming data in order to purposefully cause a system fault or bypass security safeguards. Changing the look of a stop sign, for example, might potentially trick an AI program in a self-driving car into ignoring or misinterpreting the sign as something else entirely (such as a turn signal, etc.).
