Ship status is indicated via the AIS transmission. The ship is 0 when it is motoring, 1 when it is at anchor, 2 when it is not under command, 3 when it has limited maneuverability, 4 when it is constrained by her draught, 5 when it is moored, 6 when it is aground, 7 when it is fishing, 8 when it is sailing, and 9 when it will be amended for ships carrying DG, HS, MP, or an IMO pollutant or hazard in the future.
