Question

Alp - What does high ALT and ALP mean?

Answer

Possible causes of an increased ALT level include pancreatitis, biliary obstruction, or main liver disease. Alcoholic liver disease and viral hepatitis are associated with an AST > ALT ratio. An increase in ALP levels can be caused by a number of medical conditions, including hyperparathyroidism, hyperthyroidism, biliary obstruction, primary liver disease (with changes that parallel GGT), and infiltrative liver disease.
