Autonomous Robot - What was the first autonomous robot?

The first electronic autonomous robots exhibiting complex behavior were developed by William Grey Walter of the Burden Neurological Institute in Bristol, England, in 1948 and 1949. The first digitally operated and programmable robot was invented by George Devol in 1954, and was eventually named the Unimate.
