Echo State Network - How does echo state network work?

In order for an echo state network to work, the input signal is first used to train a huge, static recurrent neural network, which produces a nonlinear response signal in every neuron in this "reservoir" network. Afterwards, it sets up a trainable linear connection to produce the desired output signal.
