Fuzzy Set - What is a normal fuzzy set?

A normal fuzzy set, according to Definition 2.2.3, is characterized by a membership function µA(x) where the height of the set, h(A), equals 1. If the height is less than 1, the set is considered subnormal. However, subnormal fuzzy sets can be normalized by redefining the membership function as µA(x)/h(A), for any x that is a member of the set X.
