Hidden Layer - What happens if you have too many hidden layers?

When an excessive number of hidden layers are incorporated in relation to the complexity of the problem, a phenomenon known as overfitting can occur. This leads to the neural network being overtrained and adversely impacts the time complexity. Overfitting is typically a result of the network mirroring the data too closely, thereby losing its generalization ability.
