Question

Lisp - Why does lisp have an S in it?

Answer

To pronounce "lisp" as "lithp" when the letter "s" cannot be made using the lips, one must use the jaw. (I should check it up in the OED, but I'm just having fun here) The word "lisp" was presumably coined to emphasize the things that a person with a lisp cannot perform.
