Machine Perception - What is perception for AI?

Perception in AI involves the machine's capability to utilize sensor input data (such as from cameras, LiDAR, RADAR, microphones, wireless signals, tactile sensors, etc.) to learn about various aspects of the world. An instance of machine perception would be the machine's ability to determine an object's position or movement trajectory within a scene.
