Improving function approximation accuracy is the goal of the Mixture of Experts method. To accomplish this, a weighted combination of local models, sometimes called "experts," is used in place of a single global model. The first step is to use clustering methods to break the issue area into smaller parts, and then to train a local expert in each of those parts.
