Modus Ponens - Why is modus ponens not a fallacy?

In Western philosophy, the modus ponens is a legitimate argument since it guarantees that the conclusion is true because the premises are true. Still, it doesn't make sense to assert the consequent because the premises don't ensure the conclusion's veracity.
