Neural Turing Machine - What does Alan Turing's machine do?

A Turing machine follows a predetermined set of instructions to read and alter symbols on an endlessly long tape. The tape is made up of "cells," or segments, and the machine reads and updates the contents of these cells using a tape head. Each cell may carry one symbol.
