Prediction - What are the two simple approaches to prediction?

Two simple but effective prediction approaches will be covered: the k-nearest-neighbor prediction rule and the linear model that is fitted using least squares. Predictions made using the linear model, which presumes a substantial structure, are stable but may be inaccurate.
