Apollo - Why did Zeus punish Apollo?

When Apollo got into a fight with Zeus, the god of thunder and lightning, the punishment was to send a 16-year-old kid called Lester Papadopolous to Earth to make amends. The role that Apollo played in the conflict between the gods and Gaea was the cause of this. Of course, this annoys Apollo, who is desperate to reclaim his celestial position.
