Question

Decoupling - How does decoupling work?

Answer

Decoupling occurs in joint homeownership when one co-owner transfers his/her share to the other, thereby fully relinquishing his/her ownership. This owner is now considered a first-time owner, as if he/she has never owned a property before. Consequently, he/she can purchase a second property without incurring any Additional Buyer's Stamp Duty (ABSD).
