Gatsby - What is Gatsby's flaw?

The demise of Gatsby stems from his intransigence in embracing the present and letting go of his cherished past. He resorts to crime and deceit in his dogged pursuit of Daisy, his former sweetheart. He takes on the identity of a bootlegger, befriends a mafia, and creates a false character.
