Intranet - What makes up an intranet?

In contrast to the public Internet, an intranet is a private network that only authorized users within an enterprise may access. On a business level, it provides the same file sharing, communications, and online applications as the Internet and uses the same protocols. In contrast, an extranet acts as a logical continuation of the intranet.
