Bulletin Board System (BBS) - What is the difference between BBS and email?

As opposed to email, the feature set of bulletin board systems was more comprehensive. They had a lot more features than just email-type communications, such games, chat, classified advertisements, blog content, and more. There was a vast selection of BBS software available to system operators, or sysops, so they could tailor their system to their liking.
