Allocations - What are the 5 allocation methods?

Inode, File Allocation Table (FAT), Indexed, Contiguous, and Linked are the five main types of allocation algorithms. Although external fragmentation can occur with contiguous allocation, it is not usually the case with the other approaches. Unfortunately, linked allocation isn't compatible with disk blocks that may be accessed randomly.
