Artificial General Intelligence - Will AGI replace programmers?

There is a common misconception that programmers would become obsolete as a result of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI). The opposite is true; more people will need to know how to code as a result of AGI's success. Throughout my forty years of experience in software development, I've seen many ill-informed predictions of how technology will eventually eliminate programming jobs.
