Generalized Model - What is meant by generalized model?

An extension of the general linear model, a generalized linear model uses a separate link function to build a linear relationship between the dependent variable and the factors and covariates, thus expanding the model's scope. Crucially, this model permits a non-normal distribution for the dependent variable.
