Fulltext Indexing - What is the difference between normal index and fulltext index?

An unique index is like a primary key in that it guarantees that each row is unique, but it doesn't have to be the primary identifier. Multiple distinct INDEXes can be included in a single table. In contrast, a FULLTEXT INDEX is optimized for searches that involve text, allowing users to search for specific words or phrases inside a table's text column.
