Working with Data Collections
Understanding Data Collections
Data collections in Naologic serve as foundational structures for organizing and managing data within your applications. These collections house individual data documents, which represent specific data points or entities. By effectively configuring data collections and documents, you can establish robust data management strategies that align with your application's requirements.
Data Collections can be accessed from your Project Canvas by going to the top right and clicking Project Configuration > Data Configuration.
Access Policies
An important aspect of data collections is the 'Access Policy List'. Access policies are useful when creating user roles, as they help define which roles have access to certain documents. These can limit or enable access, providing an additional layer of control over your data.
Data Documents
After creating a new collection, you can create new documents by clicking on the three dots next to the name and selecting 'Create New Document'. These documents can later be used inside tables, forms, and other visual elements in the builder. Each document must have a unique name within the collection and must reference a data structure, which acts as the data schema of the particular document. This schema is used for validation of data types, values, and relationships between data.
Key Considerations When Working with Data Collections and Documents
- Creating and managing data collections: Understand how to create new collections, assign access policies, and organize your data effectively.
- Configuring data documents: Customize document behavior through various settings, including status, data type linking, and import/export options.
- Leveraging membership options: Implement granular access control to protect sensitive data and ensure authorized usage.
- Utilizing document types: Differentiate between standard data documents, configuration documents, and settings documents to structure your data appropriately.
By effectively understanding and utilizing data collections and documents in Naologic, you can establish a solid foundation for your data management practices. Through careful configuration, access control, and data organization, you can ensure data integrity, optimize application performance, and deliver exceptional user experiences.
